As to Windows Live Messenger not the default mail handler

Windows Live Messenger is made of standard E-mail with Microsoft Windows service.

Until another service is added to the computer such as Microsoft Office (Outlook), the default service consider Windows Windows Live Messenger. If another program is installed and operational, then you can consider it define time to the new service as the default value. Changing the e-Mail service in Windows by default is a quick and painless process that will take a few minutes of your time. Difficulty: easy

Instructions

    Windows XP

    Click tasks on the "Start" button in your bar.

    Select "Control Panel".

    Select "Internet Options".

    Select the "Programs" tab

    Select the default mail handler in the e-Mail drop-down list.

  • All email services located on your system are listed in the drop-down. Select you the new manager of e-Mail messages should be by default.

    Click "OK" button.

    Click tasks on the "Start" button in your bar.

    Select "Default programs".

    Click the link "set default programs".

  • 4

    Select the program you want to act as your new mail Manager by default.

  • Click the option "set this program by default". Click "OK" button.
