Walkthrough: installing an add on ActiveX

ActiveX is a programming environment developed by Microsoft for use with your Internet Explorer browser.

The framework allows developers to extend the functionality of Internet Explorer and add useful features included with the default browser. Adobe Flash Player and Windows Media Player plugins are two examples of applications are installed with ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer. Once your settings are properly configured, an add-on ActiveX installation is a quick process. Difficulty: easy

    Open an Internet Explorer browser window.

    Click "Tools" in the top menu bar and select "Internet Options"

    Select the "Security" tab, and then "Custom level" at the bottom of the dialog box button found.

    Scroll through the list of parameters until you "ActiveX controls and plug-in the" position.

    Find the section titled "Download signed ActiveX controls" and select "Command prompt (recommended)".
